Mark Allen Thompson, age 57, of Brighton IL, born on September 14, 1966 in Wood River IL, died on Saturday, August 17th , 2024 at St. Anthony's hospital in Alton IL.
Mark married Sheila Jean Allred on July 10, 1993 at Gordon Moore Park in Alton, IL. They had one daughter.
Mark graduated from Southwestern High School in Piasa in 1985.
Mark had a 27-year career as a sanitation engineer for Eisler Sanitation, Sanders Waste Systems, and Kenny Jones Sanitation.
An avid fan of racing he was often seen at the local stock car races with his wife. He also enjoyed bowling, watching TV and relaxing. Later in life he enjoyed playing and spending time with his granddaughter.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila, his daughter, Ashley Nicole and his grandaughter, Skylar Victoria Ann, all from Brighton, IL. His youngest brother, Thomas Lee Thompson who also resided with him and his family. Other survivors include, his mother-in-law, Sheila Schoonover from Charlotte, Michigan and two special "grandsons", Alijah and Noah, his brothers, Kevin, Troy, and Todd, and many other family and friends.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Brenda (Probst) Thompson his grandmother, Helen (Campion) Thompson, and his grandparents, Dallas and Irene (Davis) Probst. Visitation will be Friday, August 23, 2024 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral at 12 p.m. noon at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Burial will be at Elsah Cemetery.
