Mark F. Affsprung, 49, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at St. Louis University Hospital. He was born on December 13, 1961, in Alton, Illinois the son of Edward and Laura (Frayser) Affsprung of Wood River. He married Elizabeth Anne Sly on October 16, 1982 in Wood River and she survives. Other survivors include two daughters: Jessica Affsprung of Edwardsville, Victoria Affsprung of Edwardsville, his four legged son Piper, one sister and brother in law: Beth Hitchell and Dan of Richmond Heights, Missouri, his father in law and mother in law: Harold and Patricia Sly of East Alton, his sister in laws and brothers in law: Tammy Long of Plano, Texas, Jenni and Greg Sands of Godfrey, his nieces and nephews: Jason Riss, Sydney Hitchell, Sara Neely and her husband: Kevin, Ben Long and his wife: Natalie, Jacob Long, Justin Sands, Jeremy Sands, and Josie Sands, and his great nieces and nephews: Halle Neely, Henry Neely, and Victor Long.
He was employed at Lumiere Place in St. Louis as a Chief Engineer. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, music, and his family. He was looking forward to purchasing a motorcycle since he had just got his motorcycle license. He was a member of the Edwardsville Moose. He was a regular at the Edwardsville Market. He loved to bring his wife Beth flowers every Saturday.
In celebration of his life, memorial visitation will be from 10am until a time of remembrance at 1pm on Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River.
Memorials are suggested to the Victoria Affsprung Educational Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
