Marjorie Richardson 85 passed away at 5:17 am, Thursday, August 26, 2010 at her residence with her care giver by her side.
She was born in Louisville, IL on March 26, 1925 the daughter of the late Vearle and Gladys (Shirley) Pierson.
Marjorie was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary post 1308, and had served as Chaplin, served as Auxiliary president, Madison County Council President, and 12th District VFW President. She enjoyed traveling and seeing the world, and exploring antiques.
She was a registered beautician and the owner of Ham and Merv Taxi Company in Alton.
She is survived by a stepson; John Gregory Canaday of Alton, her friend and companion; Mark Cunningham, a nephew William Jack Pierson of Winchester, VA, two niece’s; Sue Pierson and her husband Don of Waterloo, IL, and Lori Anne Roever and her husband Gary of Waterloo, IL, two great nieces; Elizabeth and Lillian Roever of Waterloo, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four husband’s; Ray Cook, Leslie Christeson, Jack Canaday, and James B. Richardson, and a brother Jack Pierson.
Visitation will be from 11 am to until time of service at 1 pm, Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL.
Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery in Alton, IL.
