Marjorie Mary Fischer, 93, of Alton, IL passed away at 6:41 a.m. at Saint Anthony’s Health Center on Fri, Jan 9th 2015. She was born June 29th, 1921 in Alton to the late Blanche (Graf) Kaeser and Phillip Kaeser of Alton. She married John Thomas “Jack” Fischer on April 23rd, 1946.
Marjorie was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, IL. She was an avid bridge player, and loved to dance, travel, and volunteer for the community. She was a member of the Saint Anthony’s Hospital Auxiliary for over 50 years, serving as Treasurer for many years, and also co-founded the hospital’s Gift Shop with her dear friend, Ethel Mazrum.
She was preceded in death by her husband, brother Phillip Kaeser Jr., grandson Ryan Webster Fischer and granddaughter Kristen Suzanne Bean. She is survived by her sons John Thomas “Tom” (Sharon) Fischer Jr. of Denver, CO, and James Webster Fischer of Mt. Vernon, her daughter Mardell (Dan) Witcher of Alton
Along with 8 grandchildren: Colleen Fischer, Stephanie (Josh) Casaubon, Kristie (Brad) Webb, Jaime (Ian) Rutherford, Jared Fischer, Sara (Matt) McGibany, Shaun Bean, and Lauren Bean, and 9 great-grandchildren: Eveleigh Casaubon, Abby & Jake Webb, Griffen & Nora Rutherford, Ryan Fischer, Andrew Dobbins, and Alyssa & Alora Bean, and many nieces, nephews & friends.
Visitation is scheduled on Tues, Jan 13th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Staten-Fine Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Wed, Jan 14th from 10 am until time of funeral services at 12:00 pm at Staten-Fine Funeral Home with Monsignor Kenneth Steffen officiating. She will be laid to rest at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
