Marjorie Jeanette Abbott, 92, was peacefully united with her loved ones, surrounded by her family, on Monday, July 7, 2014 at the Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on March 26, 1922 in White Hall, Il, and was the daughter of the late Harley & Cleva Pearl (Maberry) Anthony.

She was a homemaker, a beloved wife, and a nurturing matriarch of five generations.

She attended East Alton-Wood River Community High School and Lewis & Clark Community College in Godfrey.  Before retiring at the young age of 70, she had worked in the nursing department at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville for twenty three years.

She first married Everett Rogers on March 26, 1939, and together they had one son, Eric.  She then married Alvin Andrew Abbott on May 31, 1943 in St. Charles, Mo., and together they were the proud parents of five daughters and shared nearly 48 years together before his death on March 19, 1991.

She will be sadly missed by a son and daughter in law, Eric & Carol Rogers of LaJolla, Ca.; three daughters & sons in law, Anita Hodgin of Alton, Jeanette & Alvin Spann of Hartford, and Ruth Ann & James Miller of Jerseyville; a son in law & his wife, Roger & Edie Czaia of Godfrey; seven grandchildren & their spouses, Alan & Stephanie Spann of Glenpool, Ok., Cynthia Little of Cottage Hills, Robin & Donnie Wittman of Brighton, Christine & Chris Weishaupt of Rosewood Heights, Lori & Cliff McCurdy of Springfield, Joshua & Danielle Spann of Tulsa, Ok., Leigh & James Bolin of St. Louis, Mo.; twelve great grandchildren & five great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents & husband, she was preceded in death by her two daughters, Joanne Kathryn Czaia on Oct. 6, 2005 and Angela Jeanne Abbott on Oct. 20, 2013; two brothers, Raymond Anthony and H.E. "Bud" Anthony.
Visitation will be conducted from 9 a.m., Thursday until time of funeral services at 11 a.m., at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

Burial will take place at the White Hall Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Jerseyville Public Library or to Shriners Hospital.
