Marilynn L. VanHooser, 76, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2023 with her family by her side.
She was born on May 31, 1947 in Eldorado, IL the daughter of Henry and Velma (Batteese) McGhee. She married Gary VanHooser on March 18, 1973 in Herrod, IL and he survives.
Marilynn will be remembered for her strong faith. She enjoyed crafting, and spending time with her family and enjoying the many family gatherings. She became an avid deer hunter and hunted with her husband as often as she could. She enjoyed camping as well.
In addition to her husband, Gary; she is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Michelle and Brian Garrett, Kerri and Christopher Fulkerson, and Ann and Thomas Spring; a sister, Betty Rice; six grandchildren and their spouses, Fred and Erin Skelton III, Joshua and Nikki Skelton, Christopher and Rachel Fulkerson Jr., Garrett Fulkerson, Austin Spring, and Jackson Spring; two bonus grandchildren, Vincent Clark Jr. and Payden McOwen; six great grandchildren, MaKynna, Kindryl, Zane, Trey, Christopher III, and Ruby; and a bonus great grandchild, Rhea McOwen.
Marilynn was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Bob Batteese, Paul Lewis, and Donna Barton.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL
Services will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Pastor Jordan Evans officiating.
Entombment will take place in Upper Alton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
