Marilyn Wood Williams Kolesa, aged 65, died peacefully on November 14, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton. Marilyn was born December 14, 1946, in St. Louis, MO. The daughter of William Wood and Melba Duckels.
Marilyn graduated from Alton Senior High School in 1965. In 1967, Marilyn married her high school sweet heart, Allen Hugh Williams, and upon his completion of engineering school, they moved back to Alton. They had three children.
Marilyn thoroughly enjoyed being a wife, mother and homemaker. She loved sewing, reading, home decorating, cooking, and making everything around her beautiful. She lived a full life with her family and friends. She traveled, read avidly, and frequently attended operas and movies. She was a volunteer at the Caravan Oasis.
In 1999 Allen passed away and in 2001 Marilyn was blessed to marry Larry Kolesa. They enjoyed traveling and lived in California for five years. In the last five years she enjoyed designing and creating children’s clothes, purses, and aprons.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Larry, three children Dee Dee, son-in-law Chris Altenbernd, grandson Allen James, sons Darren & Nicholas, Brother Robert Wood & his partner Inge Kelly, Sister Nancy Lagemann & husband Jerry, Sister Suzanne Leonard & husband Carl, and a number of beloved nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends.
In celebration of her life, a memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 at Faith Fellowship Church 4719 Seminary Rd. Alton, IL 62002.
Dr. Daymond Talkington, will be officiating.
