Marilyn M. Miller, 89, formerly of Fosterburg, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 1.09 p.m., at Cedarhurst of Bethalto with her family at her side.
Born May 14, 1931, in Alton, she was the daughter of John and Mary (Jones) Gillis.
She married Clyde Miller on November 8, 1974. He preceded her in death on February 14, 2018.
Marilyn worked as a waitress and in retail for many years. She enjoyed playing bingo, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy (Darrell) Slimick of Bethalto, IL, a granddaughter,
Kristi (Kevin) Cook of Staunton, IL, two grandsons, Jeff of Channahon, IL and Tim (April)
Curran of Milton, FL, four great-grandchildren, Leah and Lucas Cook of Staunton, IL,
Adrianna Curran of Milton, FL, and Bailee Droweinga of Jacksonville, FL. She is also
survived by one brother, Donald Gillis, of Alton, IL, and one sister, Sharon Depper, of South
Roxana, IL, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Belinda Curran; a granddaughter, Kelli Droweinga, an infant great-granddaughter, Madelyn Cook, a brother, Edward Gillis, and two sisters, Shirley Young and Ada Kay Riley.
A private funeral service for family will be held at Elias, Kallal, and Schaff in Bethalto with Pastor Willard Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Fosterburg Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
