Margaret L. Gade

Margaret L. Gade, 70, passed away unexpectedly at 9:30 am Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

She was born on April 9, 1940 in Alton, IL, the daughter of Melvin J. and Blanche E. (Cloniger) Brooks. 

She married Stanley E. Gade on July 20, 1957 in Picket, AR.  He survives.

Margaret was a janitor at Maintenance Unlimited.  She was a member of the VFW Post 1308 Ladies Auxiliary.  She enjoyed bingo, fishing and most of spending time with her family and friends

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children and their spouses, Stan L. Gade and his finance’ Lisa Edwards of Grafton, Timothy V. and Lupe Gade of Alton, Edna B. and her fiancé’ Doug Smith of East Alton, James L. Gade and his fiancé’ Melissa Ross of Pittsburg, KS and Rosemary and Kevin Slone of East Alton; ten grandchildren, Jerry, Raye and his wife, Jennifer, Paul and his wife, Stephanie, Dawn, Rhea, Desha, Ashley, Heather, Kevin and Marie; eight great grandchildren; her siblings and their spouses, Ruthann Rodriguez of Arlington, TX, Jessie Gaffney of White Hall, IL and Preston and Eileen Brooks of Wood River and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Butch Brooks, Albert Brooks, Gene Brooks and Leroy Brooks.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.  Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be given to Alton VFW Post 1308 Ladies Auxiliary.
