Margaret Emmaline "Emmie" Grogan, 76, died at 3:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at her residence after a battle with cancer.
She was born in Hartshorn, Missouri on March 31, 1934, the daughter of the late Harry & Virgie (Crabtree) Day.
Surviving are her husband, companion and friend for over 52 years, Murel Grogan of Jerseyville; six children & their spouses, Josephine & Dennis Smith of Carrollton, Florence & Bud Mitchell of Fidelity, Brenda Sumpter, and her companion, Charles Baker of Fidelity, Goldie & Mike Duggan, Cecil Grogan, and his companion, Angie Campbell, and LaWanda & Jason Cox all of Jerseyville; 28 Grandchildren; 50 Great Grandchildren; three Great Great Grandchildren; a brother, Arlus Day of Jerseyville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Micheal Dale Grogan; an infant granddaughter, Tony Jean Grizzle; six great grandchildren, Nathaniel & Cassandra Grizzle, Scott Allen Mitchell, Joshua Grizzle, Don Grizzle, Micheal Dale Grogan III; a sister, Ethel Lamborn; and two brothers, Andrew Day and Amos Lee Day.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyvillle where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday.
Burial will be in the Kane Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the family to assist in the erection of a permanent marker at the cemetery.
