Maggie Ellen (Mitchell) Carroll, 95, passed away at 8:10 am Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at VIP Manor in Wood River.
She was born on July 6, 1915 in Luebbering, MO, the daughter of the late William Willis and Emma Ellen (Wieda) Mitchell.
Maggie was a homemaker. She was a member of the East Alton Assembly of God Church for several years. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and spending time with her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Velma June Braundmeier of Fieldon and Verna Corrine Lack of Cottage Hills; her grandchildren and their spouses, Roger and Cathy Carroll, David Carroll, Missy and David Shimchick, Bob & Linda Lack, Lillian Lack-Stinson, Candace & Nils Bengtsen, Corrine Kemmish, Edith and Steve McCardle, Roy and Judy Braundmeier, Liz and Mike Towell and Marcy and Jon Gasaway; twenty seven great grandchildren; thirty four great, great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Gwendolyn Oliver, three brothers, Virgil Mitchell, Henry Mitchell and William Mitchell, a sister, Lizzy Wilson, three sisters-in-law, Velma Mitchell, Lela Mitchell and Mamie Mitchell, three sons-in-law, Robert Lack, Elvis Oliver and Martin Braundmeier, two grandsons, Harry Braundmeier and Stanley Kemmish and three nephews, Bill Wilson, John Mitchell and Erik Henkle.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Friday, April 22, 2011 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Saturday, April 23, 2011 at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
