Mae M (Owens) Rowland, 95, of Alton died at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Heartland of Mentor in Mentor, Ohio.  She was born to the late Wesley and Catherine Elizabeth (Brazil) Owens in East Alton, IL on April 12, 1916. She married the late Jesse C. Rowland on January 25, 1964 who preceded her in death on December 18, 1999. They lived in Alton, IL until she relocated to Mentor, OH in October 2008.  Mae worked for the State of Illinois until she retired in 1978.  She was an honorary member of the Eastern Star and White Shrine along with the 1st Assembly of God Church of Cottage Hills, IL. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband and spending time with family and friends.  She is survived by two children John and Gail Stewart of Lewes, DE, Ned and Anne Stewart of Mentor, OH and a step son Mark Rowland of St Charles, MO along with 10 grandchildren, 11 great- grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her son the late James W. Stewart of Brighton, IL a brother, the late Clarence Owens of East Alton, IL and her first husband the late John E. Stewart of Alton, IL.  Visitation will be held at Gent Funeral Home, 2409 State St, Alton, IL from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2011.   Services will be held at Gent Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 8, 2011 with burial held immediately after at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, IL.  Pastor Jason Pierce will officiate.  Memorial Contributions can be made to 1st Assembly of God Church of Cottage Hills, IL, American Diabetes Association or Wild Animal Rescue Mission (WARM) of Wilmington, DE
