Mabel “Grace” Rainwater, age 77, went to be with the Lord at 8:47 am on Friday, December 14, 2012 at her residence with her family by her side.
She was born on April 16, 1935 in Sikeston, MO, the daughter of the late William N. & Myrtle C. (Connor) Alsup.
She married Milburn A. Rainwater in Sercy, AR on August 4, 1952. He passed away on July 15, 1999.
Grace was a member of the Bethalto Church of God, where she was very involved with her church community. She enjoyed cleaning, cooking, shopping, reading the bible and spending time with her children and grand and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by four children and their spouses, Ronald & Marsha Rainwater of Ft. Worth, TX, Tammy & Ken Neff of St. Louis, MO, Curt Rainwater of Wood River and Rand Rainwater of Destin, FL; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Holly & Jack Chamberlin, Jason & Whitney Rainwater, Dakota Rainwater, Phoneix Rainwater, Cheyenne Rainwater, Collin Neff, Melanie Neff, Ashley Rainwater and Erin Rainwater; five great grandchildren, Haley, Olivia, Luke, Jacob and Aidan; many nieces and nephews but one niece and her husband, Gary & Doris Denbow of Springfield, MO, another niece and her husband, Linda and Jerry Pennington of Calf., and two brother and sister-in-laws, Carolyn and Paul Fisk of Holiday Shores and Glenda and Elvin Rainwater of Troy, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five brothers and sisters, Lib Hopper, Lois Combs, Ross Alsup, Roy Alsup and Jimmy Alsup.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the Bethalto Church of God with Pastor Gary Denbow and Pastor Jeremy Robinson officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to Pathway’s Community Hospice.
