Lucille E. Keiser, age 97, passed away at 12:02 pm, Saturday, September 4, 2010, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Mt. Olive, IL on February 4, 1913, to the late Albert F. and Freda Clara (Scheller) Keiser.
At age 40 Lucille went back to school to study nursing and became Alton Memorial Hospital’s first LPN. She worked in pediatrics at the hospital for 26 years. Lucille volunteered 5000 hours after her retirement at Alton Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, sang in the choir and was a quilter at the church. She enjoyed playing the piano at the Methodist Village every Sunday night.
She is survived by a sister Myra Keiser of Godfrey, a sister in law Eleanor Keiser of Springfield, IL and a brother in law James Mick of Godfrey, two nieces Marilyn Keiser of Bloomington, IN, Joan and Jim Machacek of Westfield, MA, three nephews Ralph and Marian Keiser of Naperville, IL, Jim and Judy Keiser of Oak Ridge, TN and Phillip and Kathleen Keiser of Glen Carbon, IL, thirteen great Nieces and Nephews and eleven great great Nieces and Nephews.
Her parents, two brothers Rev. Oliver Keiser, Raymond Keiser and one sister Ione Mick preceded her in death.
Visitation will be Wednesday September 8, 2010 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral Services will be Thursday September 9, 2010 at 11 am at Main St. United Methodist Church with Rev. Jame Hahs officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mt. Olive, IL.
Memorials may be directed to the Main St. United Methodist Church Music Fund.
