Louisiane “Lou” Marie Bedar

Louisiane “Lou” Marie Bedar, 76, passed away at 10:38 am Monday, January 30, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton. 

 

She was born on May 5, 1935 in Oignies, France, the daughter of John and Marie Louise (Vermaux) DeNeef.   

She married Clabert “Clay” Bedar on November 24, 1951 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto.  He passed away on May 6, 2003. 

Lou worked as a teacher’s aide in the special education department and also as a custodian in the Bethalto School District. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto and LIFT.  She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, bingo, traveling and taking her grandkids out to eat and to the movies.  

She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Michael Ventress of Bethalto, Anna Mary and Patrick Wall of Charleston, IL and Susie Ann Bedar and her life partner, Stacie Vetter of Bethalto; her grandchildren and their spouses, Aimee Brown and her fiance’, Shawn Long of Bethalto, Shanna Wall and her life partner, Jennifer Travieso of Sunrise, FL, Staci and Brandon Cox of Apple Valley, MN, Taylor Bedar of Bethalto and Jaqui Vetter of Bethalto; four great grandchildren, Sophee and Ellah Brown,  Jackson and Griffin Cox; a brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Kathy DeNeef of MO and her nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.   

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her in-laws, Louis and Violet Bedar.   

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. 

A funeral service will be at 10 am Friday, February 3, 2012 at the funeral home with Father Tom Liebler officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.   

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
