Louenia M. Slinkard, 81, passed away at 12:38 am Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at her residence with her family by her side.
She was born on September 18, 1931 in Grassy, MO, the daughter of the late Fred and Ora (Frymire) Sitzes.
She married James Basil Slinkard on May 1, 1948 in Cape Girardeau, MO. He preceded her in death on July 14, 2007.
Louenia enjoyed sewing, and ceramics. She was a member of the Cornerstone Church Association in Bethalto, IL. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She is survived by a daughter & her spouse; Lougenia Johnston and Robert Birdwell of St. Ann, MO: three sons and their spouses, James D. and Brenda Slinkard of Kampsville, IL, Darrell L. and Kerri Slinkard of Edwardsville, IL and Dewaine and Sonya Slinkard of Hendersonville, NC; twelve grandchildren; Sean and Amy Slinkard, Travis and Alissa Slinkard, Amanda and Luke Waters, Jeather and Ed Harrelson, Michael Slinkard, Amber and Brian Law, Staci Johnston and Fiance’ Jason Cairns, Ashley Johnston, Stephanie Slinkard, Shelby Slinkard, Zachary Harrison and Lindsey Harrison, fourteen great grandchildren and a sister; Kathy Cotter of Largo, FL.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers Basil and Ronald Sitzes.
Visitation will be from 10 am until time of service at 12 noon on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Rev Erik Scottberg officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to Cornerstone Church in Bethalto.
