Lori Ann (Baecht) Griffin, 51, died at 2:15 p.m., Friday, October 28, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her family after several years of battling ALS with grace and dignity.She was born in Alton on Oct. 15, 1960, the second of six children born to the late Edward Joseph & Enid Louise (Hayes) Baecht Sr.She grew up in Grafton, and graduated in 1978 from Jersey Community High School. She began working at Hutchinson Foundry in Alton where she worked for 25 years before the plant closing. She then enrolled at Lewis & Clark Community College where she obtained her associates in Occupational Therapy. She used her skills at the Calhoun Nursing & Rehabilitation in Hardin where she was employed at as Occupation Therapy Assistant.She married Kenneth Dean Griffin at the Pere Marquette State Park in Grafton, and they have shared the past 21 years together.Surviving in addition to her husband, are five children & their spouses, Kenneth Paul & Jess Griffin of Alton, Kacie & Nathan Finkes of Dow, Kristen & Chris Johnisee of Jerseyville, Jennifer & Justin Tolle of Williamsburg, Va., and Heath Fuhler of Dow; two grandchildren, Maura & Ronan; one sister, Amy Freeman of White Hall; and four brothers & sisters in law, Joe Baecht Jr. of Grafton, Jeff & Cheryl Baecht of Jerseyville, Dirk & Kim Baecht of Grafton, and Andy & Michelle Baecht of Grafton; as well as her grandfather, Harold, and his wife, Joann Laubscher of Grafton.Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. A Mass of Christian Celebration will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Grafton, with Father Patrick Gibbons officiating.Burial will be in Scenic Hill Cemetery in Grafton.Memorials may be given to the ALS Association.
