Lois June Hueter, the daughter of Mervyn and Olive (Jett) Hueter, was born on November 17, 1933, on the family farm north of Greenville. She enjoyed a happy childhood growing up with her 4 siblings and developed a deep Christian faith that she maintained throughout her life.  It was a childhood that was shorter than most, as she and Frank D. Peterson eloped and were married in Pocahontas Arkansas on January 16, 1950.  They enjoyed 68 years of marriage until Frank’s death on May 15, 2018.

In 1950, the couple left Greenville for a 36-year odyssey throughout the midwest that took them to Zionsville, Indiana, Clarendon Hills, Illinois, Niles, Michigan, East Alton, Illinois, and Ada, Ohio. In 1986, Frank retired from Shell Pipeline and the couple returned to the Peterson family farm north of Mulberry Grove for a long and happy retirement.

Lois loved spending time with her children and grandchildren more than anything in the world, with the possible exception of hunting for morel mushrooms.  She was an avid mushroom hunter, and in fact walked more in the month of April hunting for her treasure than she walked in the other 11 months of the year combined.  And, as anyone who hunted with her could attest, she was incredible.  She could see a 1-inch-tall mushroom under a leaf, up a hill, in the shade from 20 yards away with one eye closed.  Seriously, although I understand you’d have to see it to believe it.  I saw it.  Many times.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank, her daughter Sharon Sue, and her sister Florine Drew.  She is survived by her sons William Frank (Cheryl) Peterson and Michael Woodrow (Kim) Peterson, both of Mulberry Grove.  Lois is also survived siblings George and Loren Hueter and Louise Downen, by her 6 granddaughters, Michelle, Anna, Mary, Laura, Suzanne and Emily, 9 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren.
