Lois A. Becker, 65, went to be with the Lord at 2:40 am Monday, October 24, 2011 at her home with her family by her side.  

She was born on March 12, 1946 in Vincennes, IN, the daughter of Reverend Otto and Ruth (Kuehn) Horstman.


She married Carl Becker on March 16, 1968 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. He survives. 

Lois was a cashier in the cafeteria at Liberty Middle School in Edwardsville.  She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Prairietown. She enjoyed her grandchildren, baking homemade goods and spending time with her dog “Angel”.   

In addition to her husband and her mother of O’Fallon, she is survived by her children and their spouses, Martha and David Swearingen of  Springfield, MO, Jonathan and Amy Becker of Prairietown, and David Becker of Neenah, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Grace Becker, Hope Becker, Holly Swearingen and Heath Swearingen; her siblings and their spouses, Justus and Stella Horstman of Boulder, CO, Steve and Diane Horstman of St. Simons Island, GA, Mark Horstman of O’Fallon, IL, James and Jinx Horstman of Buffalo Grove, IL, Daniel and Allison Horstman of Houston, TX, Sarah and Gene Ursprung of Godfrey and Rosalie Haines of Elkton, Maryland; her mother-in-law, Wilma Becker of Prairietown; a sister-in-law, Joyce Horstman of Rochester, NY and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and a granddaughter, Faith Becker.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Prairietown. 

Visitation will continue from 10 until funeral services at 11 am on Friday, October 28, 2011 at the church with Pastor Dale Skeesick officiating.

Burial will follow at Prairietown Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Building Fund.
