Lloyd W. Wilson, 88, passed away at 5:10 pm, Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at Alton Memorial Hospital. He was born in Piasa, IL on July 5th, 1923, the son of the late Arthur and Mabel (Williams) Wilson. On October 10, 1947 he married Arlene Scheffel in Alton. She died February 10, 2004. Lloyd served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked for Clark Oil and Refinery in Wood River, IL as an Operator for 40 years. He was also a member of the North American Bluebird Society. He was known locally as “The Bluebird Man”. He is survived by two daughters, Linda (Gary) Campana of LaGrange, IL, and Gail (Jack) Boswell of Jefferson City, MO; one son, Dennis (Karen) Wilson of Godfrey, IL; seven grandchildren, Amy Rodde, Scott Campana, Jamie Hall, Jake Boswell, Evan Wilson, Meredith Elfrink, and Peter Wilson; and eleven great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Stacy Boswell; five brothers, Paul, Arthur, John, Wallace, and Llewellyn Wilson; and one infant sister. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm, Friday, July 6, 2012 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey. Funeral service will be at 10 am, Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey with Reverend Brad Donoho officiating. Burial will follow at Godfrey Cemetery in Godfrey with military rites conducted by the Alton VFW Post 1308 Ritual Team.
