Lily Pauline Barbour, 92, died at 2:50 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2012 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. Born March 31, 1920 in Jerseyville, she was the daughter of Luther and Bernice (Statts) Brannan. She was a faithful member of the Godfrey First United Methodist Church for over 62 years. For several years she made custom drapes for Sears out of her home. On May 21, 1940 in Missouri, she married James T. “Tommy” Barbour. He survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Janice VanMeter (Richard) of Dow, two grandchildren, Cristy Lynn (Jack) Crider of Godfrey, and John Lee Baker (Kim) of Dow, seven great grandchildren, Joshua Crider (Kellie), Joshua Gray, Jace Crider, Jessica Baker, Kali Sue Baker, Matthew and Alec Mohrmann, a grand daughter-in-law, Stephanie Mohrmann (Greg) of Alton, and three sisters, Neva Skinner (Troy) of Carlinville, Evelyn “Sis” Schmeider (John) of Fieldon, IL, and Jean Ansell of Jerseyville. She was preceded in death by a son, James Richard Barbour, and a sister, Ermaileen Brannan. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the Godfrey First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery. Reverend Don E. Long Jr. will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Godfrey First United Methodist Church. Online guestbook and information may be found at
