Lila McCain

Lila Pauline McCain, 84, died at 6:33 p.m., Friday, July 1, 2011 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.She was born in Chicago on Aug. 25, 1936, one of two children born to the late Clyde Edgar & Virginia Louise Cox.In her younger years, she was employed at Owens-Illinois in Alton, and lived and worked in California for many years before relocating from Beaumont, Ca. to the country of Fieldon in 1994.She married Rueben W. "Mac" McCain on April 17, 1954 in Highland, Il., and together the two shared 45 years together before his sudden death on Aug. 6, 1999.Surviving are a son and his companion, Shawn McCain &  Patty Hinkle of Cottage Hills; a son in law, Stephen Buerke of Jerseyville; four grandchildren & their spouses, Stephen Buerke & Jennie Hermann of Shipman, Jeremiah & Beth Buerke of Wood River, Daniel & Shannon Buerke of Jerseyville, and A. Gilbert Alexander McCain of Banning, Ca.; four great grandchildren, Dylan, Samantha, Austin and Jackson; a brother & sister in law, James & Betty Cox of Roxana; and nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Virginia McCain and Debra J. Buerke.Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday.  Rev. Doug Karssow of the Roxana Church of the Nazarene will officiate.Burial will be in the Rosedale Cemetery.Memorials may be given to the National Kidney Foundation.
