A golden voice is singing in heaven today, Lila Lee Simpson Owens, 88, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Integrity Healthcare in Wood River.
Born November 29, 1932 in Hartford, she was the daughter of Floyd and Bertha (Cossey) Simpson.
Lila started a singing career at a young teenager. She loved to perform and entertain especially, country music.
She was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren who inherited her talent and passion, as well as many young musicians, teaching them all to "be their best and always be humble".
On April 26, 1952 in Arkansas, she married Oscar Owens. He died May 13, 1994.
Surviving is her sons, Kenneth Owens, Timothy Owens, Kevin Owens; daughters, Donna (Gary) Bollinger, Jacqueline Bland, Kelly Owens; 17 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; beloved daughter, Susan Bland; and four granddaughters, Margaret Greenwell, Lily Sparks, Missy and Maher Owens.
Private services and burial were conducted at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at a later date.
