Lewis Bunch
Glen Carbon |
It is with great sorrow the family of Lewis Dean Bunch announces he left this earth to be with our Heavenly Father on September 9, 2024. To the very end, he loved and was loved in return.
If you asked his family what Lewis Bunch did, they would say he loved his wife and loved his family. That defined who he was, how he spent his time and where he put his heart. He raised four daughters and one son. He adored his 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He loved to travel and, because he was incredibly frugal, was able to visit Ireland, China, Germany, and several other countries with his beautiful wife after raising their children. He cherished his wife, Ruth, to whom he was married for 58 years before he walked her home as she slowly lost her battle against Alzheimer’s. He raised his family in church and had a beautiful baritone voice. He never met a stranger and loved to visit with his cronies at the American Legion and while mall walking.
A veteran of the Korean War, Lewis worked for Winchester Western for 30 years after many years working at Granite City Steel. He will be remembered for his warm smile, wicked sense of humor, and his generous spirit.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Ruth, daughter Debora Kennedy (Terence), and grandson Matthew Manary. He is survived by his children Mardi Manary (Mark), Richard Bunch (Jennifer), Diana Bunch, Julia Turner (John), grandchildren Lorraine Bacon (Kevin), Jennifer Lewis (Corey), Derek Bunch (Katie), Megan Manary, Shaun Bunch (Megan), Micah Manary (Faith), Andrew Johnsted, Tyler Bunch (Michelle), Vanessa Christianson, great-grandchildren Alyssa Flores (Matthew), Kevin Bacon, Jr., Adalia Filipkowski, Ania Filipkowski, Madelyne Lewis, Robin Manary, Harper Bunch, Morgan Manary, Emerson Bunch, and great-great-grandchildren Logan Flores and Grayson Flores.
Services will be held Monday, September 16, 2024 at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, 50 Fountain Drive, Glen Carbon, Illinois 62034. Visitation is from 9-11 a.m. and the service is at 12 p.m.
