Lester V. Kearbey, 91, passed away at 3:07 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Christian Northeast Hospital.
He was born on January 22, 1933, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, the son of the late D.F. and Eunice (Hillis) Kearbey. He married the former Betty Carmichael on November 27, 1954, in Columbus, Georgia, and she preceded him in death on December 7, 2015.
Survivors include one son and daughter in law: Cecil and Debra Kearbey of Roxana, four grandchildren: Jami Rose and her husband: Tommy, Amanda Anderson and her husband: Bradley, Megan Kearbey, Emily Kearbey, two great–grandchildren: Marrisa Morrison, Lindzey Morrison, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
Lester was employed at the Village of Hartford for twenty years where he worked for the street department. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1953 to 1955.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter and son in law: Sharon “Diane” and Todd Zucca, one sister, and three brothers.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
