Leslie Wayne Harrawood, 88, died at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Asbury Village in Godfrey. Born November 12, 1934, in East Alton, he was the son of Raymond and Verdie Alma (Galbraith) Harrawood. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired in 1993 from Owens-Illinois mold shop. On April 12, 1957, he married Joan Lee Gibbons in Alton. She survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Michelle Brooks of Alton, a son, Tim Harrawood (Rhonda) of Conway, Arkansas, three grandchildren, Bill (Monica) Brooks, Scott (Amanda) Harrawood and Elizabeth (Chris) Thornberry, 10 great grandchildren, and a sister, Jean (Ernie) Marshall. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Harrawood, a brother, Paul Harrawood and a sister, Roberta Meiners. A memorial mass will be held in his honor at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 717 State St, Alton, IL at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023. Immediately following the mass there will be a gathering at Johnson’s Corner, 2000 State Street, Alton, IL.
