Leslie Ann Patton, 53, died unexpectedly at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011 in her home.She was born in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina on Feb. 24, 1958, and was the daughter of the late Billie Lee and Nellie Darlene (Elliott) Riley.She graduated in 1976 from East Alton Wood River Community High School, and later graduated from the Lewis & Clark Community College school of Nursing.  She worked as a Registered Nurse for both Alton Memorial Hospital and the Alton Mental Health Center for a number of years.A member of the Catholic faith, she currently belonged to Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville.Leslie first married Walter Pyle and together they had three children.  She later married John H. Patton on July 26, 1997 at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville.  Together, they had a son, and shared 10 years together before his sudden death on April 27, 2008.Surviving are her four children & their spouses,  Walter Gene Pyle of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Tara Pelan, and her husband, Spencer Rowell formerly of Wood River, Amy & Travis Cook of Wood River, and Ian Patrick Patton of Jerseyville; four grandchildren, Gregory, Brittany and Brandy Pelan, and Canaan Cook; a half brother, Joseph Dooling Jr. of the area; a step father, Joseph Dooling Sr. of Fieldon; and special friends and neighbors, Eric & Cynthia Hampton and their children and Pauline Whitlock all of Jerseyville.; and her former husband and friend, Walter Pyle of Kane, formerly of Wood River.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two infant sisters.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville, with Father William Hembrow officiating.  Burial will be in the Noble Cemetery in Otterville.Memorials may be given to a fund established for the benefit of her youngest son, Ian, and make be given at the funeral home.
