Leroy Edward Tiemann, 92, died at 9:38 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Montgomery Nursing & Rehab. In Hillsboro, IL. Born January 6, 1928 in Alton, he was the son of William 'Shorty' and Rose E. (Lewis) Tiemann. Mr. Tiemann served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. He was also a member of the Alton Moose Club, Alton Eagles, the American Legion and he enjoyed bowling. He retired as a rigger for Laclede Steel. On February 28, 1958 he married the former Vera Olden in Alton. She preceded him in death on November 14, 1999. Surviving is a daughter, Debra Kious (Gary) of Coffeen, two grandchildren, Tracy Smith (Randy) and Julie Slimick, five great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Tiemann and a sister, Ailene 'Pee Wee' Simpson. A funeral Mass will be private at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey. Father Steven Janoski and Deacon Bill Kessler will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with full military honors. Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey.
