Leota J. Meisenheimer, 80, passed away at 8:22 am Monday, August 4, 2014 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. 

She was born June 1, 1934 I Bethalto, IL, the daughter of James Marion and Ann (Tadrick) Zimmermann.

She married Robert C. Meisenheimer on February 28, 1955 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto.  He preceded her in death on September 5, 2002. 

Leota worked with Madison County in voter’s registration for twelve years, retiring in 1999. She was the organist for Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church where she was a member. 

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Robert and Teresa Meisenheimer of Deltona, FL, Kimberlee Moore of Bethalto and Bret and Susan Meisenheimer of Ashaway, Rhode Island; seven grandchildren, Molly, Megan, Hannah, Abby, Bradley, Morgan and Jocelyn; three great grandchildren, Dylan, Dominic and Honora; her siblings and their spouses, Shirley Stearns of Bunker Hill, Dickie Connoyer of Bethalto; her sisters-in-law, Sandy Zimmermann of Bethalto, Rose and Glen Bickmore of Bethalto and Marlene and Mick Barach of Bethalto and her nieces, nephews and friends..

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Vicki Jill Ebert, twin daughters who passed away at birth, Janie and Joanie, two brothers, Richard and Boyd Zimmermann and five brothers-in-law, Joe Meisenheimer, Bub Connoyer, Bob Stearns, Richard Meisenheimer and Kenneth Meisenheimer. 

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. 

A funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Friday, August 8, 2014 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church of Bethalto with Father Tom Liebler officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be given to Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church Angel Fund.
