Leone Margaret Gallagher, 80, passed away at 3:05 pm Sunday May 6, 2012 at University Nursing and Rehabilitation in Edwardsville.
She was born on September 7, 1931 in Morris, IL the daughter of Arthur Monroe & Audrey Beryl (Connery) Bennett.
She married Edwin Spencer Gallagher on November 1, 1947 in East Alton, IL. He survives.
She worked as a secretary at Midwest Foundry in Edwardsville and then for SIUE with the Off Campus Program and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Creal Springs, IL. She also loved going shopping, and enjoyed music, bowling, sewing, bingo, flowers, gardening and loved hummingbirds.
She enjoyed her children and grandchildren and was a fun loving person.
In addition to her husband, Edwin Gallagher of Edwardsville, she is also survived by her mother, Audrey Bennett (101) of Edwardsville, a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin Lynn & Diane Louise Gallagher of Red Lodge, MT, two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra Renee & Mike Pennington of Creal Springs, IL, and Sue Ellen & Michael Goebel of Prairietown, IL; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Gallagher of Alton; ten grandchildren, Christina Brown of Godfrey, Dawn Schelling of Glen Carbon, Tully Monroe (Jen) Gallagher of Golden, CO, Nolan Spencer Gallagher of Golden, CO, Kristin Lee Pennington of Creal Springs, IL, Kaitlin Renee Pennington of Creal Springs, IL, Justin Michael (Jessi) Goebel of Hamel, Jared Matthew Goebel of Edwardsville, Jonathan Marc (Kendall) Goebel of Champaign, IL, and Lindsey Sue (Tyler) Thornton of Minier, IL; and nine great grandchildren.
In addition to her father, Arthur Bennett; she was preceded in death by a son, Edwin Randall “Randy” Gallagher, and a brother Loris Bennett.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday May 9, 2012 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto where funeral services will held 10 am Thursday May 10, 2012 with Pastor Melba Boyd officiating.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery in Godfrey.
