Leonard L. Burch, 81, died at 12:55 p.m., Friday, January 2, 2015 at his residence.He was born in Jerseyville on March 28, 1933, and was the son of the late George Delbert & Ruth (Angel) Burch.Leonard enlisted with the U.S. Army, and served in Germany during the Korean War.During his adulthood, he involved himself in various occupations, lending his talents to whatever was needed, but truly loved assisting farmers and serving the residents of Kane Township as their Road Commissioner for nearly 20 years.  He married the former Betty Lou Pickett on July 29, 1961 at the Church of the Nazarene in Jerseyville, and together they have shared 53 years together.Surviving are his wife, Betty Burch of Carrollton; three daughters & sons in law, Cynthia & Alan Hamilton of Clovis, NM, Carla & Ed Shaw of Kane, and Tammy & Ben Kendall of Kane; six grandchildren & their spouses, Jennifer & James Hart and Jeffrey McGough of Clovis, NM., Jason & Angie Shaw, Justin Shaw, Nicole Kendall and Joshua Kendall all of Kane; five great grandchildren, Tanner, Trevor and TreylaAutrey, Kylie Shaw and Hadley Shaw; a half sister, Hilda Day of Jerseyville.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a beloved daughter, Debra Burch on Oct. 6, 1974; a half sister, Verna Goheen; and three half brothers, Delbert Burch, Thomas Burch and Emmett Kellerman.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Wednesday.  Rev. Don Staton will officiate.Burial will be in the Kane Cemetery with the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492 conducting military graveside rites.Memorials may be given to his family in care of the funeral home.
