Leola Cecilia Corona, 82, passed away at 11:42 pm Saturday April 6, 2013 in Edwardsville with her family by her side.

She was born January 13, 1931 in Michael, IL the daughter of the late Leo Henry & Mary Viola (Smith) Andres.

She married B. Joseph Corona on October 12, 1957 at. St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton and he preceded her in death on March 6, 1974.

She worked in Key Control with Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville and retired in 1994. 

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, was an avid sewer, loved bird watching and gardening.  She lived for her family and loved her seven grand dogs and one grand cat.

She is survived by six daughters, Mary Ann Schmieg of Alton, Rita Humphreys of Edwardsville, Marilyn Corona of Edwardsville, JoEllen Corona of Alton, Toni Corona of Maryville, and Anne Regenstein and her husband John of O’Fallon, MO; seven grandchildren, Ryan Schmieg and his companion Erica Cranmer and Lauren and Sarah Schmieg, all of Alton, Jessica Humphreys of Edwardsville, Caleb, Abby and Courtney Regenstein of O’Fallon, MO; one great granddaughter, Sophia Leola Schmieg of Alton, and an extended daughter, Nancy Frey of Maryville, IL.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday April 9, 2013 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. John Luong OMV celebrant.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton.
