Lena Mae Wooff, age 92, passed away at 1:05 pm on September 25, 2010 at her residence with her family by her side.
She was born on December 22, 1917 in Jalappa, IL the son of the late Leslie C. and Isabel (Easton) Carr.
Lena married Loyce A. Wooff on October 7, 1937 in St. Charles, MO. He preceded her in death in 1996.
Lena Mae lived in the Alton area most of her adult life after being raised in Texas. She worked along side her husband Loyce in the growth stages of Wooff Realtors for many years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and other family members and her belief that we all had a purpose in life and to fulfill it was her charge.
She is survived by two daughters; Joyce and her spouse Wes Godwin of Springfield, MO. and Sheryl Chinowth-Cohen and Lee Cohan of Tulsa, OK. Three sons; Ronald Wooff of Godfrey, IL. Dennis and his spouse Lynda Wooff of Godfrey, IL. and David and his spouse Linda Wooff of Overland Park, KS. Eleven Grandchildren; Timothy, Kimberly and Mark Wooff, Amy Wooff-Flach, and Aaron Wooff, Jason Tilley, Steven Tilley, Jay Godwin, Amber Brewer, Lee Chinowth, and Taylor Chinowth. She had twelve Great Grandchildren four Great Great Grandchildren, and is survived by one sister; Dorothy Lyons of Alton, Il.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Gary Dwayne in infancy, two brothers; Elmer Carr, and Dick Carr, and one sister; Ruby Smith.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7 pm, Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL. Where the funeral service will be conducted at 10 am, Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010 with the Rev. Gene Cope, her cousin, officiating.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial park in Godfrey, IL.
Memorials may be directed to the BJC Hospice of Alton, or the American Diabetes Association.
