Leland Wayne “Sonny” Althoff, 81, of Roxana and formerly of Hartford, Illinois passed away at his home at 10:03 p.m. on Monday, September 2, 2024. He was born May 16, 1943, in Rush City, Minnesota, a son of the late Stanley and Gertrude (Haines) Althoff. He married Donna Raye (Jones) Althoff on March 24, 1981, and she passed away on April 7, 2024. Sonny was an over the road truck driver for many years and retired from Triad Industries in South Roxana after several years. He enjoyed his days of fishing and hunting and always enjoyed special times around those who cherished him. He is survived by a daughter, Kristy Scott of Roxana; daughter-in-law, Linda Hanbaum of Rosewood Heights; two daughters, Jeri and Kim and their families in Minnesota; three grandchildren, Kyle and Lindsay Scott, Kelee Scott and Jada Hanbaum; five great grandchildren, Jaylee Holliday, Brilee Holliday, Tristan Bassett, Kynleigh Scott and Aspyn Scott; sister, Sharon Rike of Pine City, Minnesota; brother, Gary “Skip” Althoff of Rush City, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Rick Jones of Wood River; other extended family and friends. In addition to his beloved wife of 42 years and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael David Hanbaum; a great grandson, Hunter Holliday; a sister, Linda Althoff and a brother-in-law, Curtis Rike.

In celebration of his life and in accordance to his wishes, a graveside service will be held at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2024, with Reverend Sharon Autenrieth officiating.
