Lawrence V. Wallis

Lawrence V. Wallis son of Albert Lee Wallis and Josephine (McElfresh)
Wallis was born in Salem, Missouri on September 8, 1936.  He passed away
in Jerseyville, Illinois on August 20, 2010 at the age of 73 years, 11
months and 11 days.

Lawrence was united in marriage to Truecilla Nash on September 3, 1955.  
They were the parents of two children.  Lawrence was preceded in death
by his parents; two sisters, Maxine Miller and 3 year old Carol Gene
Wallis; and a brother-in-law, Lenzie Nash.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Trudy of the home in Godfrey,
Illinois; his son, Lanny Wallis and wife, Loretta, of St. James; and a
daughter, Pamela Wallis, of Godfrey; one grandson, Isaac Wallis, of
Georgia; a granddaughter, Allison Widener and husband, Michael, of
Rolla; three brothers, Lee Roy Wallis and wife, Vurla, of Rolla; Jimmy
Wallis and wife, Katherine, of Salem; and Albert Ray Wallis and wife,
Diana, of Salem; and one sister, Marie Nash, also of Salem.

Lawrence attended Alpha Chapel in Alton, Illinois.  He enjoyed music and
playing the guitar.  Lawrence worked for many years as an over the road
truck driver and traveled to many places.  He will be sadly missed by
his family and all who loved and cared for him.

Funeral service for Lawrence V. Wallis was 11:00 a.m. Tuesday August 24,
2010 at Dent County Memorial Chapel with his son, Lanny Vurl Wallis
officiating.  Music was provided by his children, Lanny Wallis and wife,
Loretta, and Pamela Wallis.  Family and friends took turns giving
tribute to Lawrence.  Serving as pallbearers were Lanny Wallis, Isaac
Wallis, Curtis Nash, Ray Wallis, Jeff Wallis and Darrel Nash.  Interment
was in Cedar Grove Cemetery, with all local arrangements under the
direction of Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville
