LaVerne M. Neumann, 90, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Gillespie Nursing and Rehab, surrounded by her family.
She was born on September 16, 1933, in Wood River, IL, the daughter of Samuel A. and Helen A. (Massa) Hunter. She married Walter T. Neumann on August 14, 1954, in Bethalto. He preceded her in death on April 19, 2019.
LaVerne was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Cottage Hills. She was on a woman's bowling league and enjoyed camping, shopping, playing pinochle, drinking ice cold Pepsi, and traveling. LaVerne loved to spend time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Tammy (Bob) Masiero of Gillespie, and Pamela (Gary) Sanner of Bunker Hill; six grandchildren, Kayla (Justin) Boesing, Brent Masiero, Ashley Masiero, Megan (Matt) Berry, Eric Sanner, and Andrew Sanner; and six great-grandchildren, Ava, Piper, Hayden, Avery, Theo, and Jovie.
Along with her parents, and husband, Walter, she was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother, Rita Samuelson, Leona Pfafflin, and Samuel Hunter.
Private services will be held for the family, with burial at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens. Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto is assisting the family with final arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to HSHS- Hospital Sister Health Systems Hospice.
