Larry W. Kaufman, age 78 of Alhambra, IL, died Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Saint John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.
He was born on Tuesday, March 09, 1943, in Highland, IL, the son of William and Edith (nee Donnelly) Kaufman.
On Saturday, July 04, 1964, he married Sharon A Kaufman, nee Gremer, who survives.
He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, In 2003 Funding Member of the S. IL Chapter 32 International Harvester Club (President for 9 years).
Larry was born in Highland, IL, raised on a farm south of Alhambra, IL, and graduated from Highland High School in 1961. He worked at Granite City Steel and farmed with his father. In 1974 he and his wife rented a house and farmed ground in the Alhambra township area. Soon after he quit his steel job and took up farming full-time. Somewhere along the line Kaufman Farms was created. Always the entrepreneur, Larry bought several trucks and started hauling his own grain and grain for other farmers in the area. From there Kaufman Trucking was formed. In 1989 the family built a house about a quarter-mile down the road on Larry's grandparents Kaufman's farm. Even though farming and trucking kept him busy, Larry was the Alhambra road commissioner from 1981 to 2000. He was very proud of the award he received through the Highland Jaycees in 1974 as the Outstanding Young Farmer. In his spare time, he and his wife enjoyed attending antique tractor shows. He enjoyed Tractor Pulling, pulling with one of his favorites "Old Mother McCormick" his beloved 856 International Harvester. He also enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren and his pet dog "Buddy". He played high school basketball and always loved watching college and high school basketball.

(Fiancé-Larry Page) Kaufman, Alhambra, IL; Daughter - Paige M. (Greg) Basler, Alhambra, IL; Grandchild - Haley M. Basler; Grandchild - Barbara N. Meguire; Grandchild - Sydney M. Basler; Sister - Karol Kay (Tom) Galbiati, Highland, IL; Nieces and Nephews - Many; Special Family Friend - Danny Whitworth, Alhambra, IL.
He was preceded in death by: Father - William C. Kaufman III; Sister - Nancy Jakel - Died 12/20/1998; Sister-In-Law - Barbara M. Koenig; Nephew - Gary L. Koenig.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra, IL, and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra, IL.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra, IL., with Rev. Jeremy R. Wood, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will be at Salem Cemetery in Alhambra, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Church of Christ Memorial Fund or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
