Larry J. Minnie, 75, went to be with the Lord, at 5:45 am on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, IL.
He was born on August 30, 1937 in St. Louis, MO, the son of the late Joseph J. & Jewell M. (Howard) Minnie.
He married Shirley M. (Winders) on December 30, 1961 in East Alton. She survives.
Larry serviced his country in the United States Air Force during the Cold War from 1959 until 1961 in Germany. He was employed at Olin Corp. in the Shell Shot Loading Dept. for 10 years and then in 1977 was employed for Propellex Corp for 20 plus years as a guard, retiring in August of 2000. He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
He is survived by three children and their spouses, Linda & Steve Rynearson of Hewitt TX, Dave & Cindy Minnie of Goshen, IN and Jeff & Tronda Minnie of Alton; eight grandchildren, Joshua, Andrew, Nate, Bryce, Travis, Drew, Ryan and Christopher; two step grandchildren, Tiffany & Timmy and one cousin, Jerry Williams of Manchester, MO.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 with Rev. Charles Hoekstra officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
