Larry A. Grant, 62, died at 6:33 p.m. Saturday, December 25, 2010 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Born April 7, 1948 in Alton, he was the son of Oliver H. and Doris J. (Chase) Grant. He graduated from Alton High School and served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Laclede Steel after 30 years of service. On December 13, 1969 in Hillsboro, IL, he married the former Cathy Spinner. She survives.
Also surviving is a son, Ryan Grant and his wife Kristin of Alton, a daughter, Julie Rose of Alton and her fiancé, Greg Aschenbrenner of Belleville. Also surviving are four grandchildren whom he enjoyed very much, Sarah Grant, Mandy, Brandon and Alex Rose, three brothers, Jim (Barbara) Grant of Alton, Duane (Nancy) Grant of St. John’s, Michigan, and Robert (Debbie) Grant of Wilsonville, IL and two sister, Diane (Marshall) Ukena of Alton, and Barb Lanham of Wood River, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Private graveside services will be at Valhalla Memorial Park with full military honors by the VFW Post 1308. Reverend Bruce Baumberger will officiate. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
