L. C. “Red” Fox, age 87, passed away at 5:45 p.m. on October 2, 2010 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton, IL.
He was born in Chaffee, MO, on December 11, 1922 the son of Franklin and Minnie (Crader) Fox.
He married the former Joyce C. Haynes on June 28, 1943 in St. Louis; she passed away on March 2, 2007.
He worked in the mold shop of Owens Illinois Glass Co for over 35 years before retiring in 1985. He served his country in the Army during WWII as a Military Police and a driver for Dwight Eisenhower. He was a member of the Alton VFW Post 1308 and was active in the Military Rites Ritual Team. He also was a member of the Eagles FOE 254. He loved to golf, hunt, fish and travel almost making it to every state. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by a daughter and her spouse Doris & Bill Manns of Alton, a son and his spouse Randy & Georgia Fox of Alton, five grandchildren Bill Manns Jr., Misti Manns, Joy (John) Fullagar, Andrew Fox, and Rachel Fox; six great grandchildren Brianna Manns, Shelly Manns, Caitlyn Lowery Savanna Manns, Shana Manns, and J.D. Fullagar, and one great great granddaughter Destinee Miller.
In addition to his parents and wife a grandson Shane Manns, two brothers Bob Fox and Junior Fox preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 10 am until time of funeral services at 12 noon, Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens, in Bethalto, with full Military Rites by Alton VFW Post 1308.
