Kenneth Wayne "K.R." Rowling, 65, died suddenly at 12:15 p.m., Monday, November 30, 2015 at his residence after suffering an apparent heart attack.
He was born in Alton on Sept. 2, 1950, one of four children born to the late Wayne Russell & Phyllis Elizabeth (Delfo) Rowling.
In his younger years, he was employed with several barge lines, and then began working for Dome Railways in Wood River for a number of years. He retired in 2013 from Olin Brass where he had been employed as a forklift operator.
K.R. was a proud U.S. Army veteran and had served his country during the Vietnam War, and was a member of the Grafton American Legion Post 648.
Surviving are his two daughters and a son in law, Nikki & AJ Heitzig of Jerseyville, and Molly Rowling, and her companion, Chris Talley of Jerseyville; two grandchildren, Corie Reese Heitzig and Camden Jay Talley; two sisters, Virginia Susan Rowling of Grafton and Jane Marie Rowling of Glen Carbon; and a brother & sister in law, Kevin Warren & Theresa Rowling of Fieldon; as well as numerous, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon on Friday. Family friend, Eddie Calvin will officiate.
He will be laid to rest in the Hartford Cemetery in Grafton, with the Grafton American Legion Post 648 conducting military graveside rites.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are desired to his family in care of the funeral home.
