Former area resident, Kenneth Michael Walkington, 82, passed away November 14, 2025 at his home in Phoenix.
Born July 8, 1943 in Alton, he was the son of Marion E. and Virginia (Thompson) Walkington.
Following his graduation from Alton Sr. high School, he served in Vietnam in the U.S. Army. He attended Southern Illininois University-Edwardsville and then Denver College earning a Bachelor Degree in Accounting. He served as a CPA and accountant for a trucking firm.
Surviving are two nieces, Carrie Bantz, Danielle (Donnie) Hargat; two step-nieces, Tracy Cox, Erika Wooldridge; and great nieces and nephews, Hayes Hargat, Chance and Jared Liley, Samantha VanDusen, and Logan and Sydney Hawkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dave Walkington, and sister, Carolyn Lewis.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, March 28 at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Frank Akers will officiate.
