Kenneth “Mac” W. McMahon, 77, passed away at 6:30 am on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Rose wood Care Center in Alton.
He was born on August 27, 1935 in Mt. Vernon, IL, the son of Paul M. and Hala (Baker) McMahon.
He married Elouise A. Cartee on October 5, 1956 at the Roxana Nazarene Church. She survives.
Mac served his country in the U.S. Marine Reserves from 1942 to 1946. He owned and operated Mac’s Auto Body for over 20 years and then Mac’s Trucking Service in Wood River, retiring in 2009. He loved spending time at his farm and also enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the Wood River Moose #1349.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Stephen W. McMahon and Dana Almeter of Worden, IL, Bryan L. and Jane McMahon of Midway and Kathy L. and Dan Bunt of Wood River; six grandchildren, Lindsay and Ben Dugger, Stephanie and Jake Terry, Abby McMahon, Joshua Giddings, Jessica Giddings and Jacob Giddings; a brother, Don McMahon of Bonnie, IL and two sisters, Roselyn Grant of Bonnie, IL and Sharlene and Robert Meyer of Lake of the Ozarks..
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Friday, January 18, 2013 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be held 10 am Friday, January 19, 2013 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Elder Judy Loyd of the Community Church of Christ officiating.
Burial will be at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Backstoppers.
