Kenneth Daiker
Jerseyville |
Kenneth Raymond “Kenny” Daiker, age 52, passed away at 4:42 p.m., Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with leukemia.
Born on March 24, 1972, in Jerseyville, Kenny's childhood was marked by mischief and learning through hands-on experiences. His life truly began when he met his soulmate, Jennifer Hewitt, whom he married on November 28, 1998, in Jerseyville. Over the past 25 years, they built a life together filled with love, adventure, and countless cherished memories.
A dedicated member of the Local 525 Teamsters Union, Kenny worked as a heavy hauler for Jayne Excavating & Welding. Known for his strong work ethic, he dedicated over 30 years to CDL trucking and was passionate about his timber business, logging for many in the area.
Kenny was a man who never met a stranger and took joy in sharing stories about his work and life with anyone he encountered. His generous spirit and genuine interest in others meant that anyone who crossed his path quickly became a friend. Always ready to lend a helping hand, he was affectionately nicknamed “Fred” by friends for his knack of appearing at just the right moment. Kenny's love for old cars and demolition derbies was well-known in the community. He drove his #77 Derby car, captivating audiences with his pedal-to-the-metal attitude and hard-hitting style, winning many features and trophies throughout the riverbend.
Above all, Kenny treasured his time with Jennifer and his daughters. Whether taking the kids go-karting, trying out new recipes or restaurants, or working together on one of his many projects—often times involving a classic car or bike in "Kanetucky"—Kenny's greatest joy was sharing these moments with his family. Their constant presence was a testament to the deep love and connection they shared.
Kenny will forever be deeply missed by his wife, Jennifer Daiker of Jerseyville and his children: Erica (Steven) Young of Jerseyville, Erica (Taylor) Hill of Jerseyville, Lakenzie Daiker of Jerseyville, Jenna Daiker of Bethalto and Krista Daiker of Jerseyville. He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Kylar, Karsyn, and Kamryn Hill, and Mia Young; his siblings: Tim Day of Kane, Shawn Hill of Jerseyville, Bradley Daiker of Freeburg, Gail Roe of Bethalto, Beth Noel of Bethalto, Lori Hill of Kane, and Tammy Woods of Texas; and numerous other relatives and special friends who will always remember him fondly.
Kenny was preceded in death by his infant son, Kenneth R. Daiker; his beloved Uncle Bill Daiker; his parents-in-law, Gerald and Sharon Hewitt; and his close friend, Darren Moore.
