Kathryn Johnson

Kathryn M. Johnson, 86, passed away at 9:12 pm Saturday March 3, 2012 at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.

She was born on May 16, 1925 Otterville, IL the daughter of Kenneth Weller & Lela (Gowin).

She married Curtis Allen Johnson on July 6, 1943 in St. Charles. MO and he preceded her in death.

She worked at Nugent Shapanski Orchard in Grafton until she went to work as a machine operator and inspector for Olin Corporation for 35 years retiring in 1987

As a child she attended Lonestar School and Hamilton Primary grade schools in Otterville. She loved babysitting kids from infants until the time they entered Kindergarten. Her favorite pastime was running to the store and baking chocolate chip cookies.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Norman “Gary” & Renee Johnson of Nutwood and Mike & Sherry Johnson of Jerseyville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Susan & Jim Taylor of Hillview and Joyce Ann Smith of Jerseyville; thirteen grandchildren and spouses, Patrick & Judy Johnson of Hillview, Sharron Johnson of Jerseyville, Larryssa Moore of Godfrey, Marissa Jo Johnson of Godfrey, Curtiss L. Johnson of Nutwood, Crystal Lynn Angel of Jerseyville, Sara & Brian Beauchamp of Godfrey, Ed & Tracy Keele of Tampico, IL, Mandy & Aaron Blackford of Godfrey, Sandy & Joe Lyles of Jerseyville, Ty & Vickie Johnson of Jerseyville, and Melissa & Mathew Portell of Nashville, TN; twenty five great-great grandchildren, Aaron Johnson, Lauren Dahlke, Ethan Armstrong, George, Kristin and Isaiah Moore, Devon, Dylan, and Kendall Angel, Chloe & Ella Beauchamp, Sierra Young, Gage Wendle, Alisha Wetzell, Dalton Keele, Cooper Lyles, and Elijah Blackford, Tyler and Carson Johnson, Cassie Delp, Alicia and Jimmy Taylor, Parker and Samantha Lewis and Harrison Portell.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sons, George Johnson and Curtis Allen Johnson Jr., three grandchildren, Shannon and Darryl Johnson and Heather (Johnson) Wendle; two sisters, Helen Douglas and Mary Cannon.

In celebration of her life, private visitation and funeral services will be held at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

Burial will be private at Otterville Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Jerseyville Food Pantry.
