Kathryn Kuhnline

Kathryn M. Kuhnline, 91, of Alton, IL, passed away peacefully at Cedarhurst Assisted Living, Godrey, IL, on January 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Kathryn was born on March 9, 1933, in Mitchell, Illinois. She was the daughter of Joseph and Magdalene (Zellerman) Troeckler who preceded her in death. Kathryn married Joseph H. Kuhnline on May 26, 1956, at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Mitchell, IL. After 64+ years of a devoted and loving marriage, Joseph preceded her in death on March 1, 2021.

Kathie was a loving wife and Mom who was proud of their three children and will be remembered for the joy she had with her family and all the special times they shared together. Kathie was also a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan since childhood as she followed their many ups and downs for 80-plus years. She enjoyed all animals, particularly her dogs that she loved dearly. Kathie was an accomplished gardener and had the best-looking yard in her neighborhood. She received enormous enjoyment watching the birds feast on the food she provided for them.

Kathie is survived by a son, Michael (Robin) Kuhnline of Brighton, IL, two daughters, Karen (Ed) Skibinski of Cheyenne, WY, Mary Ann (Kit) Schafer of Godfrey, IL, ten grandchildren, Courtney (Patrick) Sloan, Jacob (Shannon) Kuhnline, Becky (Brian) Sass, Drew (Crystal) Harlow, Aaron Schafer, Daniel (Marisa) Schafer, Dan (Katie) Skibinski, and Laura (Kevin) Guillette, sister-in-law Sister Thecla, 14 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by brother, Frank Troeckler Sr, and her sisters, Sister Raymunda (Rosie) and Bernadette Zabotka.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday January 18, 2025 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home, Godfrey, IL.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton with Fr. Jeff Holtman OSF, celebrant.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Alton, IL.

Memorials are suggested to Marquette Catholic High School, SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church or Hope Animal Rescues located in Godfrey, Illinois.
