Kathleen E. “Kathy” Parker, age 78, of Glen Carbon, IL (formerly of Collinsville, IL), born November 28, 1942 in East St. Louis, IL, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL.
Kathy was a 1960 graduate of Collinsville High School. She was employed as an executive secretary at Swift Packing Company, at Missouri Pacific in the Legal Department, and at IBM in the Personnel Department. She returned to college and earned a master’s degree in Education and retired as an elementary school teacher in Collinsville Unit #10 after 28 years. She was creative with real estate and loved to decorate.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Monica (nee Zukas) Wedemeyer, and two sisters, Dorothy Mae and Mary Jane.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John E. “Jack” Parker, whom she married on June 9, 1960; two sons: Kent (Elena) Parker of Creve Coeur, MO and Marc (Stephanie) Parker of Collinsville, IL; and three grandchildren: Sam, Madison, and Grant.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, July 9, 2021 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL, immediately followed by a funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. with Father John Beveridge officiating. Burial will be in SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.
