Justin D. Haynes, 52, passed away at 5:14 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Barnes – Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was born on July 13, 1972, in Alton, the son of the late Lloyd “Doug” and Linda J. (Meadows) Haynes. He married the former Tanya Carter on May 10, 2003, in Wood River, and she survives. Other survivors include two daughters: Brittany Harris of Roxana, Ryleigh Haynes of Cottage Hills, a son and his fiancé: Noah (Lorelie Summers) Haynes of South Roxana, a granddaughter: Amelia Harris, a sister and brother in law: Jolene and Rick Harshbarger of Cottage Hills, a brother and sister in law: Michael and Michelle Haynes of Bethalto, his father in law and mother in law: Dave and Sandy Carter of South Roxana, his sister in law and brother in law: Jamie and Kerry Walker of Wood River, his wife’s maternal grandma: Carol Gilland, a special cousin and his wife: Jeremy and Carolyn Gilland of South Roxana, a special aunt and her husband: Fran and Richard Christmas of Phoenix, Arizona, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
A diesel mechanic by trade, Justin loved building cars and working with Hot Rods. He loved spending time with his family, going to car shows, and barbecuing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Kathy Tueken, his wife’s maternal grandpa: Gene Gilland, and his wife’s paternal grandparents: James and Lula Carter.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, September 30, 2024, at the funeral home. Deacon Gary Hardin will officiate. Burial will follow at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.
