Julius Hardwick

Julius Arnold Hardwick, 91, passed away surrounded by his family on August 20, 2021 at his son’s home.

He was born in Jerseyville on November 7, 1929 to the late Thurmond Christopher & Bertha Rosetta (Perkins) Hardwick.

He was a 1949 graduate of Jersey Community High School. He joined the Navy in 1950 retiring in 1973. He joined the postal service and spent another 20 years delivering mail in Alton. His last 20 years he spent doing what he loved best by doing whatever he wanted on his son's property. He enjoyed the outdoors and would at times just sit and enjoy the country. In the end cancer snuck up on him and took him away quickly leaving family still asking how.

He is survived by one son: James Hardwick, his last sibling: Anna Mae Daniel; his granddaughter: Ashley and Peter Diamond; his great-grandson: David Adams; and his great-granddaughter: Harley Jones; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nine brothers and four sisters: Eva Lucille, Mary Helen, Jessie Rosella, and Roberta Joyce, William Walter, Harvey Edward, Cletus Leroy, Thurmond Delbert, Erith Russell, Paul Eugene, Charles Robert, 6 month old Donald Christopher, and another brother who died at birth.

Per his wishes, services will be private.
