Judith Snyders

Powell, OH |

Judith Ann "Judy" Snyders, 84, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her beloved husband and those who loved her on January 28, 2025.

She was born on October 29, 1940, in Moundsville, West Virginia, to the late Ralph and Agnes (Hepe) Palmer.

Judy married James R. Snyders in July of 1970, and they recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary.

Judy graduated from the Ruth Bryant School of Nursing in Martins Ferry, Ohio, where she earned her Registered Nurse Degree. She primarily worked in urology doctor's offices in order to maintain similar working hours as her adoring husband.

She loved to cook, but her passion was oil painting, which she pursued with the guidance of excellent mentors. She and James spent many weekends participating in juried art shows, selling numerous paintings in the Cincinnati, Middletown and Dayton areas. She was honored by her acceptance in the Dayton Art and Sculptors Society.

Judy was an active member of the Twigs organization in Dayton, Ohio, where she volunteered at a homeless shelter and soup kitchen. In her later years, she enjoyed crocheting, and made approximately 100 hats for the homeless, as well as numerous items for Twigs organization and her church.

Before her marriage, Judy taught dancing at a Fred Astaire studio, and she and Jim were members of several dance groups in Dayton and Columbus, Ohio, where they danced almost every weekend together along with friends.

Judy and Jim spent much of their vacation time in their home in Emerald Isle, North Carolina, making memories with friends, family and Judy's cherished sea turtles. The duo were fortunate to have traveled to many places around the world as well.

She is survived by her husband, James Snyders of Powell, Ohio; three sisters,

Geraldine Dorn and Jacqueline Palmer both of Wheeling, West Virginia, and Josephine Fry of Delaware, Ohio. She is also survived by her brothers in-law and sister in-law, Leland Snyders of Jerseyville, Leola and Elmer Nolte of Kane, and Peter Bienick of Wheeling, West Virginia; along with many nieces and nephews.
